As a small digital shop in a relatively out-of-the-way Ontario city, the opportunity to lead a project for a well known consumer brand doesn't come along too often. It's even better when that brand is Samsonite and their head-office is only 45 minutes away.
In December of last year Samsonite Canada selected us to help them stake a claim in the digital channel. Starting with a blank slate, we were given the opportunity to set the iconic luggage brand on track for online success -- starting with a public web site and progressing to social media and email marketing programs.
In a matter of 14 short weeks we brought Samsonite to life in the Canadian web space. The roll-out started early-on with a contest microsite and a value-first Facebook fan page allowing those who like the brand to post photos of their luggage for a shot at winning limited edition pieces. This approach allows fans to illustrate the longevity of the brand through original content and effectively supports the company's 100th anniversary.
In mid-April we unveiled Samsonite Canada's new public web site. The site features a wealth of product information in a clean, simple UI with value-focused features such as a flight tracking tool and information on acceptable carry-on sizes for multiple carriers.
The site is ecommerce ready with real-time shipment cost calculation and a direct connection to Samsonite's SAP inventory management system.
This project really is a feather in our cap, but the part I'm most proud of is the fact that we were able to handle everything in-house; from social media planning to interface design to advanced web application development.
